The new building creates a new corner condition in an awkwardly shaped gap between the terraces. It takes clues from both sides of the gap, but creates a contrasting expression between an elevated two-storey rectangular accommodation block and a grounded triangular triple-height volume of the glazed atrium. The relationship between these two volumes is also critical to its environmental performance.
